AN EXTREMELY RARE AND EARLY SILVER TORAH SHIELD. Germany, c. 1730 – 50. The borders are chased with an embossed design. Decorated with an applied crown, two Solomonic pillars (a fraction of one is now lacking), a portion box with 7 original portion plaques, each engraved on both sides, a double headed eagle flanked by two rampant lions and a beaded design. Fitted with the original three large bells and suspension chain. Marked with Augsburg (?) mark. 9” wide and 10” long. Suspension chain is an additional 8.5” long.
