53. A PAIR OF SILVER JUDAIC SABBATH CANDLESTICKS. Most likely Germany, 19th century. A pair of silver lion-form Sabbath candlesticks on domed bases decorated with insects and animals. The side panels are embossed with cartouches including: the Binding of Isaac, before King Solomon, Lighting of the Sabbath Candles, Jacob’s Dream, Samson, and David the Shepherd looking towards the heavens. Each main body formed as a lion holding up a flower. 7.2” tall. A near identical pair was sold at Sotheby’s, New York, December 12, 2006, lot 58.
