A RARE AND IMPORTANT STERLING SILVER MEZUZAH BY ILYA SCHOR
rectangular, the openwork cover shaped and engraved with Moses receiving the Tablets against background of mother of pearl discs and shaped panels, the interior of the cover also engraved with Moses surrounded by flowerheads, and fitted with a polychrome parchment prayer, all flanked by prophets holding Torah Scroll and inscriptions, signed on back in English and Hebrew and with bird, the latter repeated on the door latch Height 6 Â? in. translated inscriptions quote the first passage in Ethics of the Fathers: "Moses received the Torah at Sinai and transmitted it to Joshua, and Joshua to the elders, and the elders to the prophets, and the prophets to the Men of the Great Assembly."
