AN EARLY POSTER PROMOTING YIDDISH THEATER STAR BERNARD ELVING. New York, c. 1920. Laid down on linen. Elving was a Polish born actor in the time of the Yiddish Theater. Elving and his brother Israel, jointly owned ELVINGS METROPOLITAN THEATER at 117 Montgomery street in Newark, New Jersey from 1922 – 1944. Many Yiddish theater stars performed there including Menasha Skolnik, Moshe Oysher, Aaron Lebedof, Paul Muni and Molly Picon. Provenance: J Greenstein and Company, April 4, 2005, lot 252. 28” x 47”.
