A PAIR OF EARLY SILVER TORAH FINIALS. Berlin, 1832. Classical form. On tubular staves. The main body is decorated with swags and cherubs holding torches. The upper two portions are constructed with finely woven filigree. Marked. Engraved in Hebrew “Belongs to Naftali Hirsch with his Wife Mrs. Rachel in the Year, 1832”. Restorations and repairs. The use of faces in Judaica is an exceptionally rare occurrence. Another example of such work can be found 12.5” tall.
