AN ORIGINAL HAND CUT AND HAND ILLUMINATED PAPERCUT BY NOA ATTAIS: JERUSALEM OF GOLD. This unique papercut includes Jerusalem’s special and holy places. Newer architecture is included to represent Jerusalem of the past and the present, all combined together. The Jerusalem symbols include the Western Wall, the Tomb of Avshalom (son of Israel’s King David) on Mount Zeitim and multiple gates of the Old City including Jaffa, Haashpot and Shechem. Other symbols include the Tower of David, the vertical columns from the Cardo market, the Hurva synagogue, the windmill in Mishkenot Sha’ananim, the Knesset’s Menorah, and the Shrine of the Book. In the center of the papercut I painted the Western Wall (without the mosque) as well as the Chords Bridge, Jerusalem’s newest architectural highlight. The bridge was designed to add a defining visual element to the Jerusalem skyline at the entrance to the city. Around the papercut is the Pasuk: עומדות היו רגלינו בשעריך ירושלים, ירושלים הבנויה כעיר שחוברה לה יחדיו Our feet were standing within your gates, O Jerusalem. A rebuilt Jerusalem is like a city that is all joined together. 25” x 25” including frame.
