AN EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINAL CHARITY CONTAINER COLLECTING FUNDS FOR YESHIVA CHACHMEI LUBLIN. Lublin, c. 1930 – 39. Decorated with a picture of the Yeshiva on the front. The front inscribed with well wishing for the donors and the sides inscribed with information about the school. Wear, some paint loss and rust. The cornerstone for Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin was laid in 1924. Approximately 50,000 people attended the event. On June 24, 1930, the Yeshiva opened under the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Meir Shapiro, the founder of the Daf Yomi. Under Nazi occupation, the interior was stripped and the library was burned in town square while a Nazi brass band played. It was one of the most rigorous yeshivas to attend. This box is the only example that I have seen in 40 years of Judaica. 3.8” tall.
