A GERMAN SILVER SEDER EQUIPAGE BERLIN, CIRCA 1820, MAKER'S MARK OF GEORGE HEINRICH STEFFEN

Of circular form raised on four splayed palmette feet, the sides pierced with bands of arcading and stamped with stylized foliage within laurel and dentilated bands, one side hinged and opening to reveal two tiers, applied around the edge with eight acorn finials, the center surmounted by a tempieto on similarly and stamped base, with six faceted columns enclosing a central circular bowl on three splayed supports headed by foliage, the columns supporting a pierced section and dome applied with vertical foliate, grape-vine and anthemion straps and surmounted by a similar framework with removable circular bowl, two columns each set with three removable shell-form dishes, wooden base, marked on base of tempieto and upper-most bowl-overall height 27in. (68.5cm.)
