65. A MONUMENTAL TIFFANY AND COMPANY STERLING SILVER PRESENTED TO CARL LEFF BY THE JEWISH PHILANTHROPIES OF NEW YORK. New York, 1945. On a round base in traditional Tiffany form. Carl Leff was the co-founder of the National Spinning Company. Leff was a founder of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York. In the 1930’s, he helped dozens of Jews escape the Nazis. Mr. Leff served on the board of the Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn and was a trustee of the Long Island College of Medicine. The outside of the bowl is inscribed with the gifter’s signatures. 11.7” wide.
