AN EXCEPTIONAL ART NOUVEAU STERLING SILVER TORAH SHIELD. United States Early – Mid 20th century. Decorated with twelve pieces of cut glass each representing one of the twelve tribes. Engraved in Hebrew with dedication; THIS IS A PRESENT FROM AARON SON OF YONATHAN TO HIS SON DAVID ON HIS 13TH BIRTHDAY". Richly decorated with applied cut stones on the bottom and alternating gilded leaves and hand set bunches of grapes. With a central crown. Signed Millman and Sterling silver. Each "jewel" has been hand set by a jeweler. 13.2" tall.
