AN EARLY SILVER TORAH SHIELD. Probably Ukraine, 1779. Hand chased with two lions flanking a central cartouche. With Solomonic pillars intertwined with serpents and a stag. Additionally decorated with a chased crown, decorated with two outwardly facing birds. Inscribed THIS WAS DONATED BY RABBI AVRAHAM SON OF RABBI MOSHE, IN THE YEAR 1779 . Losses to outer edging. 8 tall.
