A PAIR OF SILVER JUDAIC SABBATH CANDLESTICKS. Most likely Germany, 19th century. A pair of silver lion-form Sabbath candlesticks on domed bases decorated with insects and animals. The side panels are embossed with cartouches including: the Binding of Isaac, before King Solomon, Lighting of the Sabbath Candles, Jacob’s Dream, Samson, and David the Shepherd looking towards the heavens. Each main body formed as a lion holding up a flower. Marked with a maker, crossed swords and “13”. 7.58″ tall. Sold: Sotheby’s New York, December 12, 2006, lot 58.
