A PAIR OF STERLING SILVER TORAH FINIALS BY PETER AND WILLIAM BATEMAN. London, 1806. Formed with three tiers of bells intertwined with scrolling supports. The base is pierced and engraved with bright cut designs. Topped with gilded crowns. Peter and Jonathan Bateman were the sons of Hester Bateman (1708 – 1794). Together with her daughter in law Ann, they took over the firm of Hester Bateman after her death. The Bateman family of silversmiths specialized in Neoclassical design. 16.4” tall.
