A RARE AND IMPORTANT DECORATED NAUTILUS SHELL. England, c. 1900. Hand engraved with portraits of the Sacrifice of Isaac and many decorative scenes. Inscribed “BLESSED IS HE THAT CONSIDERS THE POOR THE LORD WILL DELIVER HIM IN TIME OF TROUBLE” and “BLESSED ART THOU IN COMING AND GOING” and presented to Rev. D.W. Marks”. Further decorated with the Jews Free School building and statement that it has been erected with voluntary contributions. Engraved with blessings of coming and going. Reverend David Woolfe Marks (1811 – 1909) was the first religious leader of the West London Synagogue. 9.5″ tall.
