A magnificent pair of silver tefillin cases. Poland, 1860. All four sides of each engraved with an animal corresponding to the biblical saying: “be as bold as a leopard, light like an eagle, as swift as a deer and strong like a lion” (to do the will of g-d, avos 5:20). The upper portions engraved with hebrew letters indicating “for head” and “for hand” and on the base, each is engraved with a dedication: “in the year 1860, here in lumzah, abrhaham son of moshe katz as a gift to rabbi zalman reichman” 3.3” wide.
