A LARGE AND MAGNIFICENT TORAH SHIELD. Galician, 1858. Chased with two outwardly facing lions flanking a hand engraved Decalogue. The upper portion fitted with the original rotating wheel indicating specific purposes for usage. Additionally decorated with two outwardly facing winged griffons flanking a crown. The reflective dedication cartouche engraved in Hebrew with: “This belongs to the Naggid (prince/leader) Rabbi Yosef, son of Rabbi Yitzchak of blessed memory from Fleishet.” 11.5” tall.
