A LARGE SILVER TORAH SHIELD. Hanau or Frankfurt-Au-Main, c. 1880. Decorated with two cast lions flanking a Decalogue, placed over sunrays. Upper portion decorated with floral baskets, the center one overflowing on both sides. The lower portion is fitted with three blank dedication plaques in baroque style each suspended from a separate chain. Marked with 800, crown and moon. 15” tall.
